Why does City of Edmonton managers get preferred property assessments resulting in lower taxes?
All properties are assessed annually using market value. Internal and provincial internal auditing ensure the broad integrity of this work and property-specific adjustments are reviewed periodically, often by different assessors. All work is documented and no staff member can change a single property's assessed value without supervisor approval. Staff are not permitted to use assessment information for personal gain, or to directly alter their own or their families' assessments.
