What is the forecasted cost to produce power per unit at the upcoming Blatchford District Energy facility?
The District Energy Sharing System will provide the energy for heating, cooling and domestic hot water. The Utility’s fiscal policy states that customer fees for these services will be at most comparable to homes elsewhere in Edmonton. Council approved the customer fees for 2019 as part of the 2019-2022 Budget and Bylaw for the Blatchford Renewable Energy Utility. 2019 rates are distinguished between building types which are prevalent for the first stage of development (townhouses and apartments). Fixed monthly chargers for the year 2019 are $1.43 and $1.12 per day for town houses and apartments respectively, and a common variable rate of $0.0248 per kwh.
