For the money that you’ve targeted for renewal, it’s less than what was forecast to keep City assets in ideal condition. How did you make that choice and are you pushing those costs into the future?
With Council’s leadership and support, we’ve made a lot of progress on Edmonton’s infrastructure deficits. Though it’s true that what we’ve proposed in this budget is not what’s needed to keep our assets in ideal condition, we’ve looked at the economic climate and found a lesser amount that will protect our infrastructure investment and keep us close to our goals. The progress we’ve made in recent years gives us the flexibility to do this. Of course we will reassess this for the next multi-year budget.
