Have you figured out if there were ways to pay for things by raising revenues? For example, for the Stadium LRT, supposedly you’re making the system safer. That should encourage more riders. You can pay for it partially that way.
Administration and Council discussed this recently. There are many facets to transit safety. Some of those are in how we operate day to day and some are part of the system’s infrastructure — how things are built and configured and what safety elements we add. It’s important to consider all of these things and accommodate them within the budget available. Of course we hope this will increase ridership but that’s something that’s influenced by a number of factors. It’s not predictable enough that we could forecast a reliable number and assume it would offset costs.
